Indian Railways Set to Expand Vande Bharat Express Network Nationwide

In an exciting development for rail enthusiasts, Indian Railways is gearing up to introduce the country’s first indigenous semi-high-speed train, the Vande Bharat Express, in all states. This ambitious initiative promises enhanced speed and improved convenience for passengers.

Nationwide Expansion by August 15, 2023:

The Ministry of Railways has set a target to launch the cutting-edge Vande Bharat Express in every state by August 15, 2023, with plans to introduce 75 trains by Independence Day. The national transporter has been unveiling these Vande Bharat Express trains on a monthly basis since the beginning of the year. As of May 29, seven trains have already been launched in the current fiscal year.

Upcoming Vande Bharat Express Routes:

In the coming days, the national transporter will launch the Vande Bharat Express on various routes, including Ranchi-Howrah, Patna-Howrah, Mumbai-Madgaon, and more. These expansions aim to further broaden the reach and accessibility of this remarkable train.

Ramping up Production Efforts:

In response to the surging demand, Indian Railways has significantly scaled up the manufacturing of semi-high-speed trains in the current fiscal year. As of now, a new Vande Bharat Express is rolling off the production line approximately every twelve to thirteen days. The manufacturing process is primarily carried out at the Integral Coach Factory (ICF) located in Chennai. Furthermore, concerted efforts are underway to initiate production at two additional facilities: the Modern Coach Factory in Rae Bareilly and the Marathwada Rail Coach Factory in Latur. The Parliamentary Standing Committee on Railways, earlier this year, stressed the urgency to amplify production levels to meet set targets and fulfil the aspirations of railway commuters.

Expanding Operational Network:

Currently, there are a total of 18 Vande Bharat Express trains in operation, serving different routes across the country.

Here are the 18 routes of the Vande Bharat Express:

New Delhi-Varanasi

New Delhi-Shri Mata Vaishno Devi

Mumbai Central-Gandhinagar

The nationwide expansion of the Vande Bharat Express network marks a significant milestone in Indian Railways’ endeavour to provide high-speed and convenient travel options to passengers across the country. With its modern features and cutting-edge technology, the Vande Bharat Express continues to redefine the future of train travel in India.
